TCARES Meetings - 1st Thursday of Every Month - 7:00 p.m.
Tippecanoe County ARES meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month at SIA near I-65 and SR38E.
Who ?
The monthly meetings are open to all TCARES members, and non-member hams alike! All amateurs in the area are welcome to attend, but those who are not members of TCARES must pre-register.
Attendees must pass through the security checkpoint at the SIA main gate to gain entrance to the facility. SIA security will have the names of all TCARES members on file to facilitate their entry, and the names of any expected guests. Thus, the need for all non-members to register at least 48 hours prior to the start of the meeting.
Meetings are on the first Thursday of every month, start promptly at 7:00 p.m. eastern time, and generally last about an hour-and-a-half.
Organizational matters take up a very small portion of time, with the bulk of meetings usually comprised of the discussion of recent events, upcoming exercises, and training.
Please check out the box on the right side of the home page of this web site for details about the next ARES meeting.
What ?
ARES is not a club. This allows our monthly meetings to focus on the operational aspects of ARES, rather than getting bogged down in business matters and politics.
A specific training topic is focused on each month, based on the ARRL's recommendations (Emergency Communications courses, Public Service Communications Manual, etc.), TCARES guidelines and procedures, served agencies' requirements, and other relevant sources.
The TCARES membership is comprised of a diverse group of people from all walks of life. We have many experts in a wide variety of fields, and we draw upon their knowledge and experience in our discussions and training.
Where ?
Meetings are held at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) plant, at 5500 E SR38 East, Lafayette, Indiana, in the Training and Reception Center, just inside the main gate.
If you click on "Bird's eye" view on the map below, you can see the Training and Reception Center is just to the right (east) of the main gate. Proceed through the main gate and turn to your first available right. There are two parking areas, with the farthest one adjacent to the building where the meetings are held. The building with the canopy-covered driveway and water fountain out front is the Training and Reception Center. (See below for additional directions.)
A very special thanks to Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. for providing TCARES with excellent facilities to hold our monthly meetings and special training sessions!
